After meeting at Tai Po Market MTR station we take a minibus to the starting point of the walk: Tai Po Kau nature reserve.

The first part of the trip leads fairly steep up the hill over a well maintained dirt track, rocky and narrow at times. This leads us straight into the main area where fireflies are found, and soon after we’ll see their bright lights between the trees.

The walk continues deeper in the forest, where fireflies are found all over the place. Enjoy the many lights all over the place, have a close-up look at these bugs, and learn about the how and why of their behavior.

This 5 km walk takes 2 to 2 1/2 hours, and ends at the entrance to Tai Po Kau nature reserve from where you may catch transport back to Tai Po Market MTR station or to other destinations. Bring change or Octopus card for bus fares. Torches for use during the tour are provided.
